The FALMOUTH CONSERVATION COMMISSION will hold a public hearing under Section 40, Chapter 131 of the general laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and/or the Town of Falmouth Wetlands Protection Bylaw on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 7:00 PM.

In accordance with Section 40, Chapter 2 of the Acts of 2023, relating to the 2020 novel Coronavirus outbreak, the June 14, 2023, public meeting of the Falmouth Conservation Commission shall be physically closed to the public to avoid group congregation.

Alternative public access to this meeting shall be provided in the following manner:

1.The meeting will be televised via Falmouth Community Television.

2.Real-time public comment can be addressed to the Conservation Commission utilizing the Zoom virtual meeting software for remote access. This application will allow users to view and participate in the meeting. Text comments submitted with the Chat function will be read into the record at the appropriate points in the meeting.

Legal Ad

On June 1, 2023, the Marine Renewable Energy Collaborative of New England (MRECo), located at 6 Dexter Road, Marion, Massachusetts, 02738, is submitting a Notice of Intent and a Final License Application to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for the Bourne Tidal Test Site (BTTS), FERC Project No. 14775. The BTTS, located west of the Railroad Bridge in Bourne, will be the first grid-connected tidal energy test facility in the U.S. The test platform has already been installed and is permitted to test tidal turbine technology. However, a FERC license is required to interconnect the facility to the electrical grid. The application requests an 8-year license to test the operations and monitor the environmental effects of the pilot project. The application can be obtained on-line at www.ferc.gov (search Project No. 14775) and will be available for viewing starting June 1st at the Bourne Public Library, 19 Sandwich Road, Bourne, MA. FERC will accept written comments for a 30-day period from the date of application acceptance. Comments should be directed to the FERC and can be submitted electronically via www.ferc.gov.
