June 6, 1973 – ROSHOLTS VISIT SPAIN

Mr. and Mrs. Art Rosholt and daughter Kathy flew to Spain for a visit with Rosholt's son Darrell who is stationed at Rota naval base. Kathy stayed on for a four-month tour of Europe but her parents returned after a month's stay. Darrell, a Petty Officer, First Class, expects to serve several more years at Rota.

NEW MEMORIAL CONCRETE POURED

Artist Russ Kotschevar showed up to watch the work on his design, as concrete was poured Tuesday for a new pylon at the War Memorial adjacent to War Memorial Field. The form, 36" square at the base, 8" square at the top, and 22 ft. 8" tall, made it impossible to pour the material in the normal way. Reg Batchelor, who has a special machine for pumping concrete through a hose, teamed up with Dockins Pre-Mix to do the job. Three yards of concrete went into the form. This was done slowly, as the nature of the job prevented any steel ties through the forms. Another eight yards have gone into the footings, which will also support a rock wall. Three fiberglass poles in red, white and blue, will be part of the completed memorial.

PACK 199 HAS EXCITING TRIP

Sagle Cub Scout Pack 199 enjoyed an exciting field trip May 13, when the boys were given airplane rides over the area by Dr. Forrest Bird and Laura Eustace of Bird Airlodge, Glengary. Members of the Pack are Clayton Schell, Ned Colhoff, Drew Currie, Darryl Duszynski, Michael Duszynski, Billy Sigmund, Vance Colhoff, Jeff Upshaw and Danny Carlson.

SUNNYSIDE ROAD DANGEROUS

Sunnyside road from the Ole Peterson ranch east is in a dangerous condition and the public is warned to stay off. Water covers the road in places and the fill is so wet, it is apt to slide into the water. "The water is deep on both sides of the road and if a car goes off, some one could drown," said commissioner M.D. Hart.

TEACHERS GO TO COLLEGE

Charles A. Stidwell, Farmin school principal, will pursue studies this summer in visual education, rural school administration and child guidance at Columbia university, New York. Mrs. Ann Brunsell will attend the University of Minnesota; Mrs. Mildred Becker, the University of Idaho; Mrs. Mary Cherry and Mrs. Margaret Kalb, North Idaho College of Education; Mrs. Edna Johnson and Mrs. Ada Phillips, Eastern Washington College of Education.

NEWS FROM WOODFAIRIE

Mr. and Mrs. William Harry rushed to Sandpoint Saturday for groceries, having heard the bridge would be closed soon.
